Cordula Chair

Dinning chair designed by Julian Gamper / wood fiber composite or hemp composite

The Cordula Chair has been thoughtfully created to enhance a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic across diverse spaces in a large spectrum of interiors.⁣

This chair has been produced in small series using 3D printing technology and organic material. The aim was to find harmony between technology and nature in both shape and material., which resulted in two version ; vanilla and dark chocolate

The result is a versatile chair with a puristic silhouette that is pleasing to the eye and comfortable to sit on. The thick layers mimic the textured appearance of stripped velvet, well-known in the furniture world, while adding subtle yet vibrant notes of tint variations stemming from the material’s organic roots. The challenge was to maintain a minimalist design while enhancing comfort. Thus, the structure benefits from the looped silhouette, providing rigidity with a highly ergonomic flex when leaning back. The sturdy base, with front and back recess areas hinting at traditional chair legs, offers room for legs during prolonged sitting and aids in standing up. Finally, the sledge base provides a perfect spot to store items such as handbags in a gastronomic environment.

The design process of the Cordula Chair began several years after stumbling upon a 3D-printed wood fiber sample. From there came the idea to use 3D printing technology in its purest form while incorporating natural materials. This approach juxtaposes the typically industrial aesthetic with layers of organic blends, all responsibly sourced with PEFC certification.

After more than three years of development, several prototypes were crafted in various materials, and countless iterations were imagined. The goal was to master both technology and product, ensuring seamless fabrication with no need for post-processing, and gifting future owners with a sleek yet fascinating object that enhances a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic across diverse spaces and a wide range of interiors.
