Apollo chair
2017 / Furniture design
Inspired by rays of light, the Apollo Chair aims at capturing the emitted light in shape of a reduced filigrane lounge chair, giving the feeling of “sitting on light”
The Apollo Chair establishes a direct connection between light source and seat. It is as result of a study of space, form and function elevating conventional materiality beyond its normal utility. Steel wires are no longer utilised as conventional support material but as the tangible extension of emitted light.
To keep light in the optimal central position, the edge of the lamp base was cropped. Creating the illusion that light cut through its concrete base. This outshape matches perfectly all along the circular base of the chair. The two elements work in pair and together create a modern duo best suited for reading and relaxing.
